A variety of sporting and recreational activities are available in Manitou for all the seasons.


BASEBALL

Manitou has a long history of great ball players, several diamonds are busy all season with teams of all ages enjoying both hardball and softball.

CURLING

The local club offers men’s, ladies, mixed and senior curling clubs as well as floor curling.

Curling is a popular sport in Manitou offering a variety of leagues.

DANCE

A local group hosts old time dances on Wednesday evenings at the Legion Hall.  Live music and lunch served included with your $3. admission.  Call 242-2439 for more information.

Manitou offers many differnt types of dance classes

FISHING & HUNTING

Fishing and hunting are popular at various times during the year. MaryJane Reservoir is stocked with Bass, Pickeral, and Crappy, while the Pembina River offers excellent Pike and Pickeral fishing. Hunting, whether it is bow, musket or rifle, gives enthusiasts a chance for deer, moose, geese, ducks or turkeys.

GOLF

Manitou Community Golf Course is open seasonally to the public. The nine hole licensed golf course is challenging and well manitained. Drop in and play a round anytime!

Winter brings hockey for all ages including minor hockey geared for boys and girls, and linament league and women’s recreational hockey for locals.

SKIING & SNOWBOARDING

Only seven minutes west of town, Holiday Mountain Resort is some of the best hills in Manitoba. Lessons and Nancy Greene program are both offered.

The Pembina Valley Snowkickers Snowmobile club looks after miles of groomed trails throughout the area.

SWIMMING & BOATING

Manitou's NEW swimming pool was completed in July 2003. The facility boasts several leisure amenities, including;

  • junior olympic (25m) main tank
  • integrated wading pool
  • zero depth beach entry
  • aerated bubble bench
  • three waterslides
    • "The Little Dipper" wide slide
    • "The Twister" 120 foot flume slide
    • "the Plunge" side by side rocket slide
  • geysers and fountains
  • grass deck area
  • large shade structure

The pool is open seven days a week from mid-June to early September. Programs include Red Cross Preschool and Swim lessons, LifeSaving Society leadership courses, aquacize classes, adult/fitness swimming, public swimming, and swim team practices and competitions.

The facility is also available for private rentals at a cost of $90/hr (including GST).

Mary Jane Reservoir is only minutes from town and is a great place to unload the boat and toss out a line or relax on the beach and enjoy the sun.

TAEKWONDO & FITNESS

Premier Taekwondo with Master TerriAnn Seward instructs lessons for all ages throughout the year. Fitness classes are also offered during the year including classes for the mature participant who is looking to improve mobility and keep fit right up to high intensity aerobics and yoga for anyone who is looking to keep in shape.
